Prevention Of Yeast Infection

Prevention is Key!

Yeast infection or Candida is a very common infection. Vaginal infection, skin rash, diaper rash, thrush and Candida infection are the various names used for yeast infections. It is mostly occurs in women. There are reduced chances in men to develop such infections. Almost seventy-five percent women are likely to develop it at least once in their life. It is a chronic disease. It recurs if you do not take the proper medicine.

There are many antifungal agents and medicines available at medical stores and drug houses. But prevention is always better than the cure. There are a few very simple precautions that can save you from this infection. If you have contracted the infection before then you know very well the irritation and burning caused by Candida. The infection develops in moist and dumpy areas of your body. Mostly it develops around the douches, skin, vagina and nails.

You have to change the diaper of your child frequently. If a child remains in the same diaper for a along time, it can create a yeast friendly environment. Barrier creams can be used to avoid rashes. Douches and the environment around them can also cause yeast infection. You must be very careful about your oral hygiene. Wash your mouth properly and regularly to reduce the risk of this infection.

Completely dry yourself after taking a bath. Change your clothes immediately after swimming. Staying in a wet bathing suit for a long time creates a moist and warm environment that can cause yeast infection. Driers are also used for treating yeast infection. Those women who have had this infection previously must be more careful about their personal hygiene. Keep your genital atmosphere dry and clean. Don’t use irritating soaps or bubble baths and avoid using vaginal sprays or douches.

Amongst the other precautions, change your sanitary napkins and tampons frequently. Try to avoid nylon underwear. You can wear loose under garments made from cotton. Tight garments provide a warm environment for Candida to develop. Make sure that your under garments do not trap moisture. Diabetic patients have to be very careful about their blood sugar level. In case they have developed yeast infection, they should consult a good doctor for the proper prescription..

Pills for birth control usually weaken your immune system. You must try to avoid taking such types of pills during the treatment of a yeast infection. Taking excessive antibiotics also reduces your immunity. Weakened immune systems can make you susceptible to yeast infection. Try to avoid foods like sugar or yeast that can increase the chances of infection. Take a diet that has high quantities of protein, vegetables and grains. Yogurt must be a part of your everyday eating plan to reduce the risk of yeast infection.

You must keep your vagina clean and dry to prevent vaginal yeast infection. Wipe yourself properly after using the toilet. If you have Candida infection then try to avoid having sex or use condoms.
